Yesterday, marked the ten year anniversary of the war in Afghanistan. The war began on October 7, 2011, following the September 11th attacks on America. And while President Obama, stated earlier this year, that he will begin to send troops home, the war in Afghanistan is still going on,.
All of the troops are scheduled to return home by 2014. This war has now become, the longest war in American history, surpassing the Vietnam war, which previously held the record for the longest U.S. war. A total of 2,676 troops have died over the span of the war in Afghanistan. No one predicted that U.S. would still be present in Afghanistan ten years later, however that is the case. We want our troops to return home safely, and wish them well when they return.
