The trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician, for the late king of pop, Michael Jackson, begins today with opening arguments from the prosecution and defense. Murray is facing involuntary manslaughter charges, for what the prosecution says is is role in the death of Michael Jackson. Murray is being accused of giving Michael the anesthetic propofol to aid him in sleeping. Michael Jackson died from a heart attack as a result of the drug propofol. According to reports, Dr. Murray, who isn’t an anesthesiologist, illegally gave Michael Jackson the drug propofol. It’s also being alleged that, Dr. Murray did not monitor Michael Jackson after injecting him with propofol, and did not disclose giving Michael Jackson propofol to the paramedics who rushed Jackson to the emergency room.Dr. Murray’s defense is expect to counterclaim, that Michael Jackson was responsible for his own death and, “was involved in certain acts that ended his own life.” Michael Jackson was preparing for his,”This Is It,” London arena tour where he was scheduled to do a total of 50 shows. It’s believed that Michael Jackson, was physically unable to do the 50 shows, but felt obligated to fulfill his contract by AEG, who were the shows promoters. In the past, Michael sister, Latoya has argued that she believes her brother was murdered. However, she believes that Dr. Conrad Murray was used as the scapegoat in the death of her brother. According to Latoya, the concert promoters hired Dr. Murray to medicate Michael, so that he could keep his tour obligations. One thing is certain, propofol did lead to the death of Michael Jackson. Whether or not multiple people were involved, will be left to be discovered. We will continue to follow the develops of the trial and keep you posted on any updates.
