David Banner To Lecture At Harvard

Emcee/ producer David Banner has always been vocal about issues concerning the urban community, and society as a whole. Whether it be the Occupy movement, or the unfortunate Trayvon Martin case, David Banner has the ability to intellectually articulate his point of view, and still represent hip hop culture.

Over the past year or so, emcee’s like GZA and Bun B, have been making their way to colleges and universities, to lecture to students about the impact of hip hop culture on society.

David Banner, becomes the latest to join the ranks of emcees lecturing at universities. Banner is scheduled to participate in a lecture at Harvard University, for “The LA Riots: Twenty Years Later,” conference.

The conference takes place from April 27-28th, and looks at the 1992 Rodney King verdict and the impact it had on the country with respect to LA Riots, as well as the issues which are still prevalent, 20 years following the riots.

Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., will also join David Banner.  You may recall Professor Gates,  was arrested for entering his own home; a case which was based on racial profiling.

This should be an interesting conference. Lets hope they are able to televise this, because the world needs to watch, listen, and learn. Conversations like this are needed to improve the quality of life for everyone. Much respect to David Banner!
